Currently the City of Holton is implementing a new wate rmeter change out plan. Over the course of the each year our meter reader will be changing out older water meters with new meters. Our plan is to change approximately 150 meters a year. As we only employ one meter reader, these meters will be changed as time permits in the meter reader’s schedule. Most of our resident’s water meters are located in the basement or crawl space of the home to protect it from cold weather. If the City plans to change your meter, the meter reader will personally come to your home to set up this service. Our meter reader is Troy Proffitt and he will be wearing a bright yellow vest that identifies him as a City of Holton Meter Reader. He will also be driving a white truck with a City of Holton identifier on the vehicle. If you ask, he will also show you his City of Holton identification badge. If you are still unsure of his identity, feel free to contact city hall at 785-364-2721 to verify who he is. We feel that this personal service to our customers is better than notifying by letter or door hanger. Troy will be able to answer any questions you have about what he needs to do, or you can schedule a better time for him to change the meter if necessary.
