Posted Date:

Public Notice

Public Wholesale Water District No. 18

Water Customers

The Public Wholesale Water Supply District No. 18 Treatment Plant will temporarily perform a change in the drinking water systems disinfection process.  From now until the end of September the plant will change the disinfection process currently used from chloramines to free chlorine.  During this period, free chlorine will be maintained throughout the water distribution system.  The purpose of the free chlorine conversion is to improve the long term quality of its drinking water.

A chlorine smell is normal during this process.  The process is entirely safe and poses no health risks to customers..  Customers may use the water as normal. Those customers affected by the conversion are the City of Holton and Rural Water District No. 3 as well as their consecutive customers. If you have questions or concerns, you may contact the Public Wholesale Water Treatment Plant at 785-364-3098.
